Some adoptable tips

Ok, I wouldn't call myself an adoptable professional or anything, but I feel that I have made/sold enough to give some advice to anybody who wants to make adoptables, or is having trouble selling them! (some of these are short, others are a little more explained)

- Try to be creative! A black wolf with some red stripes will NOT sell (unless you make it free...even then...meh) Overly detailed designs can be confusing, but something too simple is boring. I like to make most of the design simple, then add a few features that are completely different!

- There is nothing wrong with looking at other adoptables for inspiration, general ideas. But do not blatantly steal and/or copy designs!

- Line work--- Thick lines look great for cute, simple adoptables. Thin and varying line weights add to the design if it is more detailed. Use dark brown for lines to make it look softer

- Don't underprice your work, but also, don't overprice your work. Think: Would you buy it for 10$ If not, then it probably won't sell! I've learned that the amount of time you spend on it, doesn't mean shit to other people. You could spend five hours drawing a black cat with wings, sometimes it really just comes down to the design, not how much time you spent. (It sucks, I know-but that's how it goes)

-Submit to TONS of groups! You can't submit to 1 group, then complain about how it doesn't sell. I submit to 50+ groups, even then sometimes it's hard to sell them

- Don't make too many rules! It can be very off putting when a person puts so many rules on an adoptable, you can hardly do anything to/with it. I understand that they worked hard on a design, and don't want it changed, but y'all need to lighten up a bit

-Making special offers is a great way to help them sell, like including a free sketch or icon of the character, if somebody purchases it

- Adding extras to the adoptable sheet, is another great way to help sell: such as drawing a chibi version next to the adopt, or showing it with different outfits/accessories

-Stay away from premade linearts/bases. They are very generic and boring, and there are only so many color combinations you can add before it's "been there done that" If it is an original species, that's one thing. But A plain dog lineart doesn't exude "buy me"

- Fan-adoptables are NOT a good idea: i.e pokemon gijinkas, pokefusions, sonic adopts. Any adoptable that is made based off of or including 3rd party content, is illegal! Just because tons of people do them, doesn't mean it is right! Would you want somebody making adopts out of YOUR oc's? I don't think so!

-Titles matter! Honestly, somebody is more likely to click on an adoptable titled              " a u c t i o n" than one titled "ADOPTABLE AUCTION!!!" spaced out letters look more 'artsy'

- Speaking of auctions:
    SB= starting bid
    MI= minimum bid increase
    AB= Autobuy (purchasing the adopt without bidding)

- If you are holding an adoptable auction, try to keep the comment sections clean so people can see the bids. Also, don't expect the bidders to watch the comments like hawks, just let them know if they have been outbid!

- One last thing Don't forget to have fun! Make designs that you are interested in, not what everybody else is doing! (unless you are interested in that lol) Be creative and the ideas will flow onto the canvas, and you will be selling adoptables in no time!
